In collaboration with the celebrated multi-platinum singer-songwriter and mental health advocate Jewel, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art was set to launch The Portal: An Art Experience by Jewel. This innovative art exhibit invites attendees to embark on a 'meditative art walk' while enjoying a silent disco atmosphere. To support this unique experience, the museum aimed to create a microsite that showcases Jewel’s curated selection of artworks, along with a landing page that leads visitors to it. The site would feature a gallery of works with details about the artist, time period, medium, and a descriptive video for each piece. It would be optimized for use on tablets and touch tables located within the museum. The landing page, to be featured in a digital signage monitor, would provide information about the exhibit in both English and Spanish, along with a QR code linking to the microsite.
After reviewing the project constraints with the project coordinator, I explored various design concepts. I decided on a minimalist grid design for the microsite to effectively highlight each artwork along with its details and a clear call to action for the commentary video. For the landing page, I opted for a clean and well-balanced layout to accommodates both English and Spanish content, with a prominently visible QR code at the bottom. I then incorporated the provided branding for the Portal into both projects. After several rounds of revisions, primarily copy updates, I developed both experiences using Webflow.
